I’ve seen a few woodworking projects that produce track-style coat hooks. I like the idea of customizing the hook types based on season – heavy coats and wool hats in the winter and shades in the summer.

I pulled up my design program and put together a quick prototype with room for one hook. It took a few iterations to find the right amount of room to leave so that the hook has enough strength, but this design seems strong enough. Now I just have to expand to 2-3 tracks and an 8-inch wide platform.

As for the prototype – I test-fit a hanger so it can hook over a bolt head on a pillar near my desk at work and use it every weekday.
