Most women know the annoyance of tossing a hair tie on your wrist and ending up with low circulation to your hand because of it. I often toss my hair ties in my wallet, on my keychain, in my pocket, or wrapped around my fingers.

Instagram started advertising these cool hair tie bracelets for $50. I was tempted but wasn’t sure if I’d actually use it. Afterall I have a Fitbit on my right wrist and a Shinola watch on my left. After making too many coasters on the Glowforge, I realized that I could make this bracelet on the Glowforge.

Cherry Hardwood bracelet next to Shinola watch

So I took one of my existing bracelets and measured it, designed a new one in Illustrator, and printed it. The result works great. I have a few modifications to make so that I can glue the pieces together a bit better (who knew that the gluing was the hardest part), but I’m really pleased with the results. And the Proofgrade cherry hardwood looks awesome next to my Shinola watch. I ended up making two, one with a wood center, and one with an acrylic center. I’m trying to decide which one I like more.
